Awesome night of fellowship & celebrating God’s mighty hand at work!
Saturday night, a post-Valentine fellowship for the singles & young professionals of Greenhills Christian Fellowship South Metro, truly glorified the Lord. It was a night of good coffee, great pasta, wonderful people & an AWESOME GOD! Alei & I shared our testimonies of how God brought us together. Our prayer for these singles & young professionals was that they might be encouraged by how God has moved in our lives. Alei & I talked about how God drew us closer to Him and set things right before allowing us to meet. We also talked about how our personal desires sometimes get in the way of God’s perfect plan for us, & how beautiful God’s will is.
The first part of fellowship was music, a little game to break the ice and then our message/testimony. I am very comfortable speaking to young adults especially sharing with them what I have been through & what the Lord has taught me. I talked about how awful I was as a son in the past & how I honor my parents now. It is only by the grace of God that I am able to speak of what I have been through. God is my reason for living, He gave me life that I may glorify Him & do the calling He has for me. Alei & I believe our ministry to singles & young professional is to encourage them in their walk with the Lord.
My wife talked about how selfish desires can hinder us from knowing the will of God. She had experiences in the past where God had to break her & make her whole again, for His glory. It is true that when people follow the perfect will of the Lord, they become truly blessed.
The message ended up with a question and answer time. Some of them asked about honoring the parents & bringing the relationship to the next level (marriage). We praise God for giving us wisdom to answer those questions in line with biblical principles. Alei & I believe that no matter how old the sons & daughters are, they are commanded to honor their parents. In Ephesians 6:3 honoring the parents has a corresponding promise, “that all may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” It is a blessing to honor our parents in our relationships with other people (dating & marriage relationship). When we honor our parents, we honor the Lord as well.
Alei & I hope to encourage more young people & singles in their walk with God & in seeking the Lord’s will for them. It is our desire that people be drawn closer to God and experience His perfect love.
